ART MUSEUM

Step into the heart of Johannesburg's vibrant cultural and social scene, where art takes centre stage in a space designed to both inspire and respect the beauty it houses.

I designed the Contemporary Art Museum during my third year of architecture. The museum celebrates simplicity, sustainability, and innovation in architecture.

My philosophy was that the museum's design should serve as a canvas for the art it showcases. With a minimalistic approach, I have created a serene backdrop that celebrates African art.

One of the highlights of this project is the enchanting rooftop garden terrace, a captivating fusion of art and nature. Here, you can gather beneath the open sky, surrounded by thoughtfully curated sculptures and lush greenery, a space that blurs the line between museum and sanctuary.

The museum incorporates green elements like passive cooling to reduce energy consumption and grey-water recycling systems to minimise waste.
